Job Title: PhD Position in Computational Homogenization

Description of Position: The Integrated MultiPhysics Laboratory at the University of Utah is seeking a PhD student in computational homogenization in porous media. The appointee will conduct fundamental research in mechanics and physics of porous solids. The candidate is expected to establish a new multi-physics mathematical formulation and numerically implement it in a finite element framework. The project is sponsored by the Department of Energy. The position requires strong solid mechanics and programming background, good knowledge of Finite Element Methods, strong written and communication skills. The appointee will be working with Prof. Pania Newell as well as other collaborators from other universities including University of Colorado-Boulder.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a B.S or M.S in areas related to computational engineering and science, applied math, or engineering with GPA>3.5.
