Job Title: Two Postdoc Positions in Physics-Based Machine Learning for Multiphysics Modeling

Location of Position: Vancouver, British Columbia

Employing Institution: The University of British Columbia, Vancouver

Description of Position: There are two immediate postdoctoral positions in the Computational Multiphysics Lab (cml.mech.ubc.ca) at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. The positions center on physics-based machine learning and digital twin development for the applications of marine vessel operation and underwater noise prediction. Funded by Transport Canada’s Quiet Vessel Initiative and industry partners Clear Seas and Vard Marine, the post-doc fellows will be working on two projects, namely:

  1. The first project aims to develop data-driven modeling and machine learning toolbox for coupled hydroelastic/cavitation prediction and optimization of marine propellers and ship panel structures.
  2. In the second project, the objective is to develop new machine learning techniques and a physics-based digital twin framework for the end-to-end mapping between ship noise sources and marine mammals.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong background and interest in computational mechanics, data-driven modeling and machine learning and be proficient in computer code development.

Application Procedure: Please send an email to Prof. Jaiman at [email protected] for further information.
